If you’re like most people you’ve been to a lot of bakeries over the years.

But if you haven’t visited Nana’s Baked Goods you’re in for a real treat! Nana’s is like no other bakery in the Santa Clarita Valley. Owner Gloria Lucia is carrying on a family tradition that began with her great grandmother Tulia, or “Nana” as she was known.

At the age of 16, she got married to a young attorney and wanted to help her young husband provide for the family without having to leave the house, so that she would be able to continue to take care of their two daughters, Betty and Grace. Nana started baking her family Banana Bread recipe and selling her bread in the town were they used to live – Cali, Colombia.

Well, Nana eventually had to hire help to keep up with the demand for her delicious treats. After a few years, Nana’s daughter Betty (Gloria’s mother)  took over the business and had continued success until 1962. Violence in Colombia forced them to leave the country and they decided to move to Los Angeles.  The bread was not in production again until 2000 when Gloria and her mother brought the 92-year-old recipe back to life and re-started the family business.  After her mother passed, Gloria brought her daughter Mercedes in as a fourth-generation member of the family business.

Today you can stop by Nana’s Baked Goods at  24623 Arch St. in Newhall and taste some of the most delicious baked goods around!
